High Country high jinks

RideADV lays on adventure gold

The Victorian High Country offers some of the best adventure riding with the most spectacular views in the country. The crew at RideADV are continually scoping out new trails in the area to bring their customers the best riding experience possible.

RideADV's recent four-day event took in the most memorable High Country trails including the legendary Blue Rag, Craig’s Hut and Mount Beauty. The weather was on point for the duration with bright sunshine, although riding conditions were challenging with dust and rocks both major factors.

63 riders lined up at Bright for the ride to Dinner Plain ski resort on day one. The 320km ride was a great warm up for an even more epic day two that offered an option to tackle the infamous Blue Rag Track to the trig high point. The steep trail is challenging due to 4WDs and dislodged rocks making both climbing and descending a workout. But the spectacular views are worth the mission.

Day three introduced more rocky and challenging trails from Dinner Plan to Merrijig via Craig’s Hut – an iconic venue that featured in The Man from Snowy River movie. The Merrijig Motor Inn hosted an informal chat with Yamaha legend and regular ADV rider Stephen Gall. Gally was piloting RideADV honcho Greg Yager’s personal Yamaha Ténéré World Raid and offered advice from riding tips to rider protection.

Day four raised the stakes again as the riders navigated their way up Mount Beauty and back into Bright. Fist pumps all round after another epic ride – the crew at RideADV really showcased the best of the many adventure trails in the stunning High Country.

About RideADV
RideADV offers professionally run and supported navigation rides for dual sport and ADV riders. Each ride is meticulously planned and pre-run and then plotted to a GPS route to navigate with friends. Lead riders head out and check the trail and mark obvious dangers. A sweep crew follows to assist any riders having difficulty. The rides are also supported with 4WD vehicles with trailers to pick up any bikes that are unable to finish.

Riders of all brands of bike are welcomed on most RideADV events. However, the crew is supported by YMA and both sweep and lead riders use and recommend Yamaha 700 Ténéré. The crew has now covered over 500,000 accumulated kms on both standard and World Raid Ténérés with no major issues.
